Brief about the origin of Badri Rongsa A∙we Baptist Church

Badri Rongsa A·we Baptist Church in its early stage of around 1960s appeared as Christian fellowship under the circle 2 of Simsanggre Baptist Church of Krima V when it was as few as two families of Lt Polmo Marak and Lt Ponon A. Sangma. As the number of baptized members and family numbers too increased, the fellowship however, with the size of 6 families were upgraded to the local Church level in the month of January 1976 when it was celebrating Annual Church Sobha at Sampalgre, Williamnagar. Since then the Church existed as local Church.

Even if the fellowship was upgraded to local Church level, the families of those spiritual lives are not up to the level and remain stagnant until someone came and uphold their spiritual life. It was in 1971 when Shri Direndro A. Sangma and his family landed on Rongsa A∙we soil and serve for a number of years as a volunteer evangelist, the Church slowly and slowly begins to grow. He envisions the establishing of Mother Church and hence hard word for a number of years assisted by Shri Clamex D. Sangma.  As a result of his hard work, the size of the baptized members and family numbers keep growing year by year. This enforces the needs of establishing the Mother Church. Therefore, the Church decided to find out someone committed person to send out for Theological Studies. As the search committees was entrusted to find out the candidate. Finally, committees found out Shri Lakish S. Marak, son of Shri Gading Ch. Sangma and send him to Harding Theological College in 2007.

As the sent candidate completed his studies, then the Church with every require documents are submitted to Garo Baptist Convention (GBC). Then the Convention satisfied the documents and granted to establish as Mother Church. Then finally, with Shri Lakish S. Marak as first Pastor, the Church was declared as full pledged Mother Church on 7th June, 2012 by Rev Julian Murphy N. Marak of Executive Secretary Association No. III.

Since then, The Badri Rongsa A∙we Baptist Church living as autonomous Church having her 3 daughter Churches and 465 members. Her political jurisdiction comes under P.O&P.S Nongal Bibra, District South Garo Hills, Meghalaya, India.

VISION STATEMENT:  To build biblically functioning community of growing believers where love for one another unconditionally and ministries to God and fellow beings strongly prevailed.  For this will maintain:

  1. Deeper through worship
  2. Larger through evangelism
  3. Stronger through discipleship
  4. Warmer through fellowship
  5. Broader through ministries.

MISSION STATEMENT:  The Church of Jesus Christ established as Badri Rongsa-Awe Baptist Church at village Rongsa-Awe, P.O Nongal Bibra, South Garo Hills, Meghalaya, India lay with 3 mission statements:

  • To preach:  Preaching the Good News of salvation and forgiveness of Jesus Christ to the lost souls.
  • To teach: Teaching for both believers and unbelievers whatever Jesus has commanded to be obeyed.
  • To reach: To send Missionaries and evangelist with Word of God where Gospel is not yet preached and reached.

PURPOSE STATEMENT: The Church of Jesus named as Badri Rongsa-Awe Baptist Church established as full fledged Mother Church with the following purpose: 

  1. To counter the evils things and false teaching of the world.
  2. To bring all round social transformation.
  3. To produce good and capable leaders both in church and society.
  4. To participate in God’s mission in bringing the lost souls.
  5. To glorify God’s name through different ministries.
